Who is eligible for this grant?
This grant is available to:
Farmers and ranchers that directly engage in the production of agricultural products, earn at least 50% of their gross income from their agriculture business, and demonstrate financial need (self reported for grants under $200,000) of the grant.
Small businesses (including sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, cooperatives and governmental electric utilities) with a proposed project in a rural area that can demonstrate financial need (self reported for grants under $200,000) of the grant.

Renewable Energy Projects
Wind
Solar
Geothermal
Biomass
Hydrogen
Hydroelectric
Energy Efficiency Projects
Improvements to a facility, building or process that reduces energy consumption.

What kinds of projects are NOT eligible?
Residential improvements
Energy efficiency improvements related to new construction
Agricultural tillage equipment
Vehicles

What areas are eligible?
This grant is available in rural areas in the state of Rhode Island, these areas being defined by the USDA’s Rural Development website.
